Groupe de Recherche en Agriculture Biologique (GRAB)

The Research Group for Organic Farming (GRAB) is a French association with 40 years-experience in research and extension projects in France, and mainly on Mediterranean productions. Main activities of GRAB are 1) research and field experiments in organic horticulture 2) knowledge transfer and dissemination and 3) national expertise and networking in organic farming. GRAB is recognized as a valuable actor by farmers as well as by scientists and has its own experimental station (2 sites) where it carries out field trials in organic farms, in various pedo-climatic conditions of southern France, from Mediterranean coasts to the Alps. GRAB studies deal with several major challenges of organic farming at different time and space scales: soil fertility management, adapted cultivars, pests and diseases control and functional biodiversity.

Main Tasks. GRAB will actively contribute to WP1 where it will call on its network of member farmers and technical partners (researchers, nurseries, etc.) to co-design the DREAM agroecosystem. In WP4, the networks of GRAB partner farmers and consumers will be involved to define the most relevant communication levers to convert local farmers and technicians. GRAB will lead WP5 and will disseminate the project results among the members of the project EIP-Agri “DIVERSIGO” and its opther projects. In its projects, GRAB regularly produces brochure, organizes demonstration and training for farmers.
