Moulay Ismaïl University of Meknes (UMI)

UMI is a public organization created in 1989. The main missions are: i) initial training and continuing education; ii) development and dissemination of knowledge and culture; iii) development of skills in young people for integration into working life; iv) scientific and technological research; v) carrying out expertise; vi) contribution to the overall development of the country; vii) contribution to the promotion of universal values. Aware of the role and importance of scientific and technical research in the development of national and regional socio-economic and industrial sectors, UMI has deployed enormous efforts in the structuring, financing and planning of scientific research as well as in its articulation with the developmental needs of the region. In addition to laboratories and research teams, UMI has created a Center for Innovation and Technological Transfer (CITT-UMI), a structure with furnished premises and equipment for research. UMI leads targeted research projects in different fields including Agriculture, Food Processing and Agro-ecology.

Main Tasks. In WP1 UMI will contributes to the characterization of the existing apple system in Morocco, the designing the experimental plot, the implementation of the DREAM approach, and studying the potential upscale of the DREAM approach to other crops. In WP2 it will contribute to agronomic and productive assessment of the DREAM experimental sites monitoring plant health status, assessing beehives wellbeing, honey production and quality. It also contributes in WP5 by transferring and sharing knowledge through training initiatives and materials. UMI will also actively contribute to other tasks of the different WP.
